I learned of the tides and the wilt of the tree
The sides to all meaning are but rectangle and green
I learned to love is but the cost of one’s heart
And that the brave know courage right after the fall
I found that wind has its purpose
And the years flow by
That even the little caterpillar has nine lives
I learned that fate was but at the bottom of a glass
And cigarettes don’t even want to inhale, in fact
I found the homeless to be workhorses
And others to be stuck
That even you can instead create your own luck
I learned that spoons are just spoons
And the frogs’ walk is always a leap
That you can never catch up on an hour of sleep
I learned that the daisy was a gift
And the window was an urn
That the purpose of wishing is to create in raw form
I learned why thieves don’t hold back
And why sinners get lost
I learned that you can never put your life on pause
You can pretend it is so, but it really never is
The days go by like the energy lives
I found at the bottom of the hole, not many come back
That the love for themselves has gone off the track
I wondered why purpose was a word
And if it meant anything to me
I wondered why people always wanted to be set free
I wondered of sound, and I wondered of fate
I wondered if heaven really had its own gate
I learned of peace and I learned of war
I learned one in a million get to see the northern shore
I learned of a starfish that fell
At its gaze, I wondered if she had seen the last of earth’s days
I learned of fairytales and prophets of past
That hope draws the fool with the card in its grasp
I learned that freedom sits beyond the hill of clay
And that triangles become pyramids in the middle of May
I found that euchre makes a heart if you have five from the start
And that dreams can last a lifetime, as if they were written
