Featured Poem '6 AM' and photo of homeless teens on a city street

Featured Poem

Written by Grey M. Saunders

“6 AM”

Among the people, I walk alongside

I see the steps they take as they navigate their lives

There is a unity about us, the ones on the street

Our own community, our own lives at stake

The laughter is the same, but nobody hears

The pain is the same, but nobody notices

The years that go by, nobody sees

They are the same people; they never get freed

Donation Opportunity

If you feel obliged, please donate to one or both of the homeless shelters of my choice. Mel Trotter Ministries and Dégagé Ministries are the Men and Women's shelters in my hometown.  Mel Trotter Ministries includes housing, work, and addiction programs.  Within Mel Trotter, the newly finished medical center is there to provide free health care.  Dégagé Ministries has a clothing thrift store where donations can be given so the patrons have an opportunity to find clothing at rates that are affordable.  If you are thinking of a loved one, there is a bakery inside Dégagé Ministries where you can help give daily shelter to a woman just by ordering for your friend or family!  Both of these ministries helped me during my tale of homelessness.
