The Heart Can Mend

If hope can be found at the bottom of a glass,

Can it not also be found in the monthly tide?

If love can be found between sister and brother,

Can it not also be found between schools of fish?

If dreams can be found within us at night,

Can they not also be found within us during daylight?

If remembering tears the eyes,

Does not forgetting cause a pain?

If silence is the golden rule,

Does talking send melancholies our way?

Can the kindred tide sweep them aside?

Will our frets come to life in formidable times,

Or will love rise to strengthen the lives?

The seas of sand will tell time like yesterday,

And fear can subside if we let it go away.

The humble man can be at rest.

The heart can turn to love at best.

The heart can mend, bewildered, but true.

The heart can mend by the end of the day.

Bird perched on leafy branch by the ocean, waves in the background. The scene is calm with a clear sky and natural colors.
